![]() Regular expressions are very powerful but not very intuitive. Wildcards (also known as regular expressions) are combinations of characters that instruct OOo how to search for something. When you have time, Google for "French spacing", - you'll end up well confused! But what matters is that it look and read well. When setting on a typewriter or computer it is difficult easily to get the variation in spacing, so one may use a double space to force the bigger offset about a sentence !? : are now typically set close up to the preceeding text. Older works on typesetting will suggest using a wider space between the full stop and the first word of a sentence such works may also suggest inserting a hair or thin space before !?. All my publishing books say one space between sentences, FWIW.
